Frequently asked questions
The church’s annual budget does not take large renovations into account. Instead, the annual budget is comprised mostly of costs that are regularly recurring every month or year. Since neither of these projects will be recurring year to year, it makes more sense to raise these funds outside of our regular budget. Currently, the church’s annual budget and financial situation are healthy and the church even has a reserve fund in case of emergencies such as our HVAC units needing repair.
At our June business meeting, we voted to use property maintenance funds as well as some surplus funds from previous years to pay for the first part of the preschool flooring project. The first part of the project is for the abatement of asbestos that is under the tiles. This will be handled by a professional company and monitored by a 3rd party to ensure things are done in a safe way. But that still leaves the cost to put down new flooring in that wing of the church. The money to do that will come from this campaign fund.
While you are free to give wherever you wish and are led by the Spirit, we would advise against this. That’s because all of the church’s regular bills (like utilities, paying staff, funding youth and children programs, etc.) will keep on coming. We will still need our regular weekly offerings to meet our normal needs. That’s why it is essential for us to view this campaign fund as a chance to give sacrificially above and beyond our normal offering.
$75,000 of this fund will be used to redo the floor in the preschool hallway, preschool classrooms, the Explore the Bible adult Sunday School room and the Missions Hall (formerly called the lower fellowship hall and currently where Clarksburg CAN is housed).
$125,000 will be used to renovate and remodel the New Beginnings house so that it can house three moms at a time with a separate unit in the basement for a live in house mom. This will involve finishing the basement (it is partially finished), rearranging rooms on the main floor, and bringing things up to code which will include the installation of fire safety sprinklers.
While we are raising the money for both projects together, the preschool wing will take complete priority. The first $75,000 will all go to the preschool wing renovation. Those funds will be released to fund that project as soon as we have raised the first $75,000. It will not wait for the whole campaign to finish.
